Walter Angonese

I faced the semester reflecting on issues such as tectonics, adequacy and typology, through the method of constructing the idea used by Walter Angonese Atelier. It is the theme of tectonics in architecture that will be the means to understand the profound meaning of composition and composing by parts. The wooden architecture, to which this semester was dedicated, served to introduce the world of tectonics and to understand how it is a sustainable material with great geographical and typological availability, in addition to its technical and physical versatility.

Designing in wood requires continuous reflection on how the work can be made congruous and precise at all times. I developed the theme of a wooden domestic building by building a shelter in the characteristic malt fields of the white cliffs of Dover. The building is located between Dover and St Margarets Bay along one of the many coast paths typical of the area. The gesture is to create a sensory experience along the way, stimulating people with sounds and smells, removing the view of the ocean that is always present along the way. Going down and passing below the refuge, I amplify the perception of the noise of the wind and waves coming from Sud-Est.
